Cheshire Wildlife Trust has been working for wildlife throughout the region for more than 50 years. They look after a network of 44 nature reserves with habitats ranging from grasslands and wet meadows to reed beds, coastal dunes and wetlands.

Provides free simple to follow directions for various walking routes, including GPS downloads and gives basic advice on a variety of walking issues.
LAKE DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK
England's largest National Park - Scafell Pike - its highest mountain, Wast Water - its deepest lake and thriving communities like Keswick and Bowness-on-Windermere.
NORTH PENNINES AONB
This is one of England's most special places - a stunning landscape of open heather moors and peat lands, attractive dales and hay meadows, tumbling upland rivers, wonderful woods, welcoming communities, intriguing imprints of a mining and industrial past, distinctive birds, animals and plants and much, much more. The North Pennines AONB is also a European and Global Parker - highlighting its globally important Earth heritage.
PATTERDALE MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM
The Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team is one of the busiest voluntary search and rescue teams in England. The Team is made up entirely of volunteers and they are available and on call for 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Team members all have mountaineering skills, first aid qualifications and local knowledge and many have expertise in specialist mountain casualty care, advanced first aid, emergency off- and on-road driving and water rescue.
SOLWAY COAST AONB
The Solway Coast AONB is situated in the North West corner of England, stretching from Rockefeller Marsh on the Scottish Border to just North of the historic harbour town of Maryport. The offices of the AONB are based in the Victorian seaside town of Sailcloth, adjoining the Solway Coast Discovery Centre.

FOREST OF BOWLAND AONB
The Forest of Bowland AONB covers a large area, of which 31 square miles (80 square km) is in Craven. Well-wooded and dotted with picturesque stone farms and villages, these lower slopes, criss-crossed by drystone walls.
