BECK ISLE MUSEUM - Pickering
Experience the years gone by in this informal and friendly museum. There are 27 display areas, each with a specific theme and filled with items showing the changes in social, domestic and working life from the eighteenth century, with special emphasis on Victorian times.

CLEVELAND IRONSTONE MINING MUSEUM - Skinningrove
The original basis of the Museum was the collection of mining relics accumulated by local journalist Tom Leonard, but this has been supplemented & added to over the years as facilities have been improved and the site expanded, culminating in a large scale refurbishment during the winter of 2008/09 which saw the addition of an improved shop and reception area, a small cinema and a fully equipped first floor learning and meeting room (the Tom Leonard Gallery).

CRAVEN MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY - Skipton

DALES COUNTRYSIDE MUSEUM - Hawes
Housed in the former Hawes Railway station and more recently extended to include a purpose built museum complex, including circular exhibition/lecture theatre. The museum displays an era of the dales way of life and traditions long gone. These include vetinary, leadmining, knitting, agriculture, wartime, cheesemaking and much, much more.

EDEN CAMP - near Malton
This special living museum is constructed appropriately in the huts of a genuine POW camp built during 1942. A fascinating display revealing the vital spirit which eventually triumphed in 1945.

EUREKA The National Childrens Museum - Halifax
How much do my bones weigh? How do pictures get on to the television? Who invented the paper clip? - Answers to these and many other questions may be answered at this excellent museum specially designed with children in mind.

FAIRFAX HOUSE - York
Come and unlock the splendour within the finest Georgian town house in England. A classical architectural masterpiece of its age, Fairfax House was originally the winter index.html of Viscount Fairfax. Its richly decorated interior was designed by York's most distinguished eighteenth-century architect, John Carr.

FERENS ART GALLERY - Hull
Housed in what was once the world's largest woollen mill, Leeds Industrial Museum houses a wealth of gems located in a beautiful riverside setting. Step back in time to learn about the industrial history of Leeds from manufacturing textiles and clothing to printing, engineering and locomotives, which the city was world famous for.

GEORGIAN THEATRE ROYAL - Richmond
Built 1788, closed 1848, reopened 1963, restored and extended 2003. Founder member of Perspectiv, the Association of Historic Theatres in Europe. Built by actor-manager Samuel Butler in 1788, the Georgian Theatre Royal was managed by Butler along with his circuit of theatres at Beverley, Harrogate, Kendal, Northallerton, Ripon, Ulverston and Whitby.

GRASSINGTON FOLK MUSEUM - Grassington
Located in the picturesque village of Grassington and housed in two 18th century former lead miners' cottages, the museum contains many absorbing exhibits depicting the history and life of Upper Wharfedale.

THE GREEN HOWARDS MUSEUM - Richmond
Set in a converted twelfth century church, the museums collection spans the 300 years of unbroken history of The Green Howards, one of Britain's oldest and most famous regiments.

HULL AND EAST RIDING MUSEUM - Hull
Located in the attractive Museums Quarter, Hull and East Riding Museum has seen a series of major developments since the 1980s. Highlights of the collections include the only dinosaur bones to have been found in East Yorkshire, mysterious Bronze Age warriors, and spectacular treasures from the Middle Ages.

JORVIK VIKING CENTRE - York
The Jorvik Viking Centre is unique, once experienced - never forgotten. Here the York Archaeological Trust found the amazingly well preserved remains of part of the Viking City of Jorvik cocooned in wet mud (and therefore perfectly preserved) for over 1,000 years. A massive range of detailed, often microscopic evidence was recovered and has been used to recreate every last aspect of everyday life.

MALTON MUSEUM - Malton
Renowned for its imaginatively displayed Roman collection showing the sophisticated lifestyles of the Roman Centurions and civilians who lived in Malton's fort, town and nearby villas.

MANOR HOUSE MUSEUM - Ilkley
Situated within the beautiful surroundings of the Wharfe Valley, one of Ilkley's oldest buildings, the Manor House, has been converted into an attractive museum and art gallery. On the ground floor visitors are given a glimpse into Ilkley's past while the first floor galleries provide the venue for a regularly changing programme of temporary exhibitions.

NATIONAL RAILWAY MUSEUM - York
There is much to see and discover at the National Railway Museum. Nearly 200 years of technical and social history on the railways from a replica of Stephenson's Rocket to a section of the Channel Tunnel.

RICHMONDSHIRE MUSEUM - Richmond
A step back in time . . . This fascinating award winning museum presents the story of Richmondshire and its people. Transport in the Dales, medieval cruck house, James Heriot surgery set and local industry.

RYEDALE FOLK MUSEUM - Hutton-le-Hole
Everything from farming and folk lore to rag rugs and Rosedale's mines and railways, the story of 4,000 years of living in North Yorkshire. Many of the buildings have been rescued and restored on site at the museum.

SPURN LIGHTSHIP MUSEUM - Hull
The Spurn Lightship was built in 1927. Now moored in Hull's beautiful marina, it originally guided the sailors navigating the treacherous River Humber.

STREETLIFE TRANSPORT MUSEUM - Hull

SWALEDALE MUSEUM - Reeth
The Swaledale Museum is an independent Museum run by volunteers with the aims of collecting, displaying and making publicly accessible the local heritage of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale.

WILBERFORCE HOUSE - Hull
Originally the birth place of 18th century politician William Wilberforce, this attractive building houses unique collections relating to his campaign to abolish the slave trade.

YORKSHIRE AIR MUSEUM - Elvington, near York
Created in 1985 on the former RAF Elvington WWII Bomber Base and is a living memorial to the Allied Air Forces who served in Yorkshire during the war.

YORK CASTLE MUSEUM - York
The museum exhibits all kinds of objects from the past 400 years; - like the 'Bonanza Apple Peeler' (a useful bit of kitchen equipment in 1900). There is a Hansom cab, a mail coach, bicycles and vintage cars, toy and games, period ooms, man-traps and suits of armour.
